Our Partner Church at Firtos-Varalja.
Our Partner church in Firtos-Varalja, Romania, is one of the "father churches" established in 1564 when King Sigamond declared himself Unitarian. With the Protestant Revolution causing much angst regarding what Jesus's teachings meant to humanity, he declared that fighting about particulars was NOT what Jesus had in mind for demonstrating love, acceptance, and compassion. He supported God as one, not triune as in Paul's teachings, focusing on the four gospels as truth.
Monika and Laslzo Sipos are the married ministers serving Firtos-Varalja and three surrounding towns. They have a seven year old daughter, Borbala, and Laslzo's grandmother lives with them too.
Laszlo and Monika have started a foundation called Awakening Providence which has enabled them to serve their communities with transportation to Targu-Mures (a large city about two hours away) for hospital, legal and shopping needs. The support that Blaine Free Church gives helps support the building repairs and Sunday School supplies needed for the Firtos Varalja church.
